Illustration
Cave paintings were humans first attempt to illustrate their lives. Since then illustrations have been painstakingly included in scrolls, hand-written manuscripts, early printed books and today, nearly everywhere.
As a child you enjoy the images in Little Golden Books, Dr. Seuss, comics and cartoons. As an adult you appreciate the illustration of tech manuals, catalogs, and a thousand other things you may or may not really think about.
Even in today's radically moving, "youtube" viral video, social marketing mania, illustration is everywhere. It's on web banners, web sites, email, snail mail, catalogs and especially, on video.
An illustration can make a point or point you at the next sentence. It might make you laugh, or cry or think. As a part of a design it should hopefully make you linger on the page, digital or traditional, for a little bit longer.
An illustration or group of illustrations will be different for every project and client. There is no one-style-fits all. The marketing medium, product or service and client desires dictate the style and complexity of the design, photography and illustration.
